ベネディクト・カンバーバッチが、3作目の自プロダクションSunnyMarch案件で映画『How to Stop Time』主演および、エグゼクティブ・プロデューサーを務めることが決定しました。
『How to Stop Time』は、英国の人気小説家マット・ヘイグの新作（2017年7月出版予定）で、カンバーバッチが演じるのは主人公トム・ハザード。
ぱっと見41歳にしか見えないけれど、実は何世紀も生きてきた人物とのこと。ラブストーリーの要素もある気配。

Benedict Cumberbatch is attached to star in “How to Stop Time,” an adaptation of Matt Haig’s forthcoming novel, whose film rights have been acquired by Cumberbatch’s production company SunnyMarch and Studiocanal.
Cumberbatch will executive produce through SunnyMarch, alongside Jamie Byng, CEO of Canongate Books, which is publishing the book in July. Studiocanal is fully financing and will distribute in their territories, U.K., France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand, and will be handling international sales.
The novel tells the story of Tom Hazard (Cumberbatch), a man who may look like an ordinary 41-year-old but, owing to an extremely rare condition, has been alive for centuries. It is “a wildly imagined love story that spans centuries and continents, and cements Haig’s reputation as one of the most original and exciting novelists of his generation,” according to a statement.
トム・ハザードは30ヵ国語以上に翻訳されている子供向け作品で知られており、大人向け小説は4年ぶりの出版となるそうで。2016年に出版された子供向け作品「The Girl Who Saved Christmas」は、20ヵ国以上で出版済み。
この『How to Stop Time』は今年の7月6日出版予定なので今は予約受付中。すでにアマゾンでハードカバー、Kindle版の両方とも予約が始まっていました。

ベネディクト・カンバーバッチが友人のAdam Acklandと設立したプロダクションSunnyMarchは、カンバーバッチ主演ショートフィルム『Little Favour』をクラウドファンディングで制作した後動きがなく、一時は経営悪化も囁かれていました。が、その後Studiocanalが25%の出資をして運営に参加したため、新作の映画化権を手に入れることが出来るようになったようです。
Studiocanalは巨大なプロダクションですし、国際的な配給権も持っているので、この『How to Stop Time』もすでにイギリス、フランス、ドイツ、オーストラリア、ニュージランドでの公開が決定済み。
カンバーバッチが主演とエグゼクティヴ・プロデューサーを務めるSunnyMarch案件は、『The Children in Time』、『Melrose』に続いてこれで3作目となりました。
立て続けに3作もの新作主演ニュースが続いてかなりビックリ＆スケジュールが心配。ノリ過ぎて無理がたたらないことを真剣に願います。
