ベネディクト・カンバーバッチが、David Grann原作James Gray脚本＆監督の映画『Lost City of Z』に出演するとのニュースが出ました。
Deadline：Toronto: Benedict Cumberbatch To Star In ‘Lost City Of Z’ For James Gray
Benedict Cumberbatch, who figures to be a big man on campus at the Toronto Film Festival with 12 Years A Slave, The Fifth Estate and August: Osage County getting big premieres, is negotiating to star in Lost City Of Z, which James Gray will direct from a script he adapted. Panorama Media will finance the film and handle foreign sales.

『We Own the Night/アンダーカヴァー』を手掛けた監督兼脚本家のJames Grayが2008年に映画化権を取得してブラッド・ピット主演で話が出たものの、彼はすぐに降板してしまいまだ映画化に漕ぎ着けていませんでした。(ただし、ブラッド・ピットはプロデューサーとしては参加続行中)
ベネディクトが演じるのは、この有名な探検家Percy Fawcett。幻の文明「The Lost City of Z」はFawcettが見つけたとも言われているようですが、原作を読んでいないのでどのような内容なのかはちょっと分かりません。
