イギリスのThe National Theatre(国立劇場)の2011年は、7000万ポンド以上の売り上げとなった、「記録的な年」だそうです。

The National Theatre has had a "record year" with income of more than ￡70m, according to its latest annual report.
The figures show that 48% of the NT's funds have come from box office receipts, tours and from the West End run of War Horse.

Danny Boyle's production of Frankenstein and Fela! - Bill T Jones's tribute to Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti - were among the NT's top attractions.
一番人気は、スピルバーグ監督がメガホンを取り、ベネディクト・カンバーバッチも出演している映画『War Horse』の元、舞台版『War Horse』(原作はMichael Morpurgoの児童小説)。
舞台『War Horse』はロンドンのWest Endだけでなく、今年の4月からNYのブロードウェイでも上演開始。どちらもかなりの人気作で、チケットが取りづらい話もちらほら。
2011年2月～5月までオリビエ劇場で上演されていた、ベネディクト・カンバーバッチ＆ジョニー・リー・ミラーのW主演でダニー・ボイルが演出した「Frankenstein」もFela!と並ぶ大人気演目だったとのこと。
もう半年経つんですねぇ…。NTよ、FrankensteinをDVD化してください…。例え布に包まった状態でもいいです。まっぱは散々見たので、お包みつきでいいから、家で何度でも観たいです。どうせならBDでよろしく。
