[PE]BBC Worldwide、Tom Stoppard & David Parfittと共に『Parade's End』をカンヌで開かれるMipcomへ

BBC+HBO(米)が共同で作成、ベネディクト・カンバーバッチ＆レベッカ・ホールが主演し、その他ルパート・エヴェレット、ロジャー・アランなどが出演、『English Patient』のTom Stoppardが脚本を書き、『Shakespear in Love』のDavid Parfittがプロデューサーを務め、『Jane Eｙre』のSusanna Whiteがメガホンを取る大作ドラマ『Parade's End』(すごいメンツだなしかし…)。

この『Parade's End』を、2011.10.3～2011.10.6にフランスのカンヌで開かれるMipcom（The world's entertainment content market：エンタメコンテンツ市)へTom Stoppard＆David Parfittと共に売り込みに行く、とBBC Worldwideが発表しました。

LONDON: BBC Worldwide and Lookout Point are bringing Sir Tom Stoppard and David Parfitt to Cannes to unveil the new epic drama Parade’s End.

Parade's End is a flagship five-part drama for BBC and HBO, adapted by playwright and screenwriter Sir Tom Stoppard (Brazil, Shakespeare in Love, Empire of the Sun) from novels by Ford Madox Ford. It's produced by David Parfitt (My Week with Marilyn, Shakespeare in Love) and Selwyn Roberts (Longitude, Shackleton) and directed by filmmaker Susanna White (Bleak House, Jane Eyre, Generation Kill, Nanny McPhee). Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, War Horse, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy) and Rebecca Hall (The Town, The Awakening) star in the series.

BBCとHBOのフラッグシップ・ドラマですよ、flagship five-part drama。HBOと言えばTrue Bloodがあります。今年のHBOのflagship dramaは、間違いなくショーン・ビーンが出ていた『Game of Thrones』でしょうね。

管理人はショーン・ビーンも好きなので、ちらちらチェックしていましたが、HBOのプロモーションが並みじゃなくてびっくりしました。原作ファン、ショーンファンなどの所に、プロモグッズの詰め合わせが送られてきたとか。さすがアメリカ、金の掛け方が違う(苦笑)

『Parade's End』はBBCとの共同なのでどんなプロモーションが繰り広げられるか分かりませんが、これだけ力が入っているなら露出も多そうな予感。日本に来るかは別として(GoTの日本放送もまだ未定)、海外からの情報には事欠かなさそうですｖ

BBC Worldwideが世界配給権を握っているので、NHKと言わずCSでもいいので是非。というか、日本ではWOWOWがHBOと提携していましたっけ？管理人、無駄な抵抗は諦めてWOWOW契約か？その割にはGoTがまだ来ないな…

Steve Macallister, the president and managing director for sales and distribution at BBC Worldwide, said: “We are thrilled to be involved in a project with such high calibre on and off screen talent. Parade’s End will, without question, be one of the most striking and talked about dramas on our screens in 2012 and we are privileged to be a part of this landmark production.”

Steve Macallisterは、「『Parade's End』は2012年に我々が出すドラマの中で疑うことなく一番目立ち、話題に上るドラマになるだろう」と言っています。

Parfitt added: “I’m very much looking forward to coming to Mipcom and meeting buyers face to face. I’m tremendously proud of Parade’s End, Sir Tom Stoppard has written an extraordinary screenplay and Susanna White is undoubtedly one of the best directors in the business.”

プロデューサーのParfitt氏は、「Mipcomでバイヤー達と顔を合わせるのを楽しみにしている。私は『Parade's End』にものすごく自信を持っており、Sir Tom Stoppardは素晴らしい脚本を書き、Susanna Whiteは疑う余地なく素晴らしい監督の1人だ」と付け加えたとのこと。

既に撮影は始まっていて、先日はSussexのビーチで撮影を行っていたとか。撮影はEnglandとベルギーで12月まで。

すごいな…Benny、別にマカヴォイやファスベンダーみたいに大作映画に出たい！と言わなくても、巨大予算の大作ドラマに出てるじゃないですか。来年は無理でもそのうち舞台に戻ってね。レイフ・ファインズも『Tempest』で舞台に立ってたよ(←レイフか？彼と比べるのか？)

ベネディクトは軍服がかなり似合うので(『Small Island』)、愛のないクール・ビューティーな妻レベッカ・ホールとお澄まし顔で寄り添う姿がとっても簡単に脳裏に浮かびます。むしろ、Adelaideにぞっこん(死語だな)になってる姿が全く浮かばない…。

で、『Parade's End』にはおいくらのお値段が付くんでしょうね～。しかし、日本で受けるかはちと謎。かなりドロドロ血なまぐさい戦場も描かれるようなので(『Parade's End』は第一次大戦も舞台の1つ)、レーティングがどうなるかも気になります。

原作を読んで予習…するにはちょっとハードルが高いのが難点(～～；
