2010年7月にロンドンのNational Theatreで上演された、ベネディクト・カンバーバッチ主演舞台『After the Dance』(テレンス・ラティガン作)。
今年の5月あたりに、NYブロードウェイにてオリジナル・キャストで再演があるかもしれないとのニュースが出ましたが、John Reidを演じたAdrian Scarboroughが、ブロードウェイ公演はないと最近のインタビューで答えました。

Q:New York theatergoers have been hoping you might join them on Broadway in a transfer of last year's extraordinary National Theatre revival of Terence Rattigan’s After the Dance.
A:That was talked about for a while but it’s over now. Benedict [Cumberbatch, the leading man] decided not to go with it, which I can completely understand from his point of view, and when Ben pulled out, the light went out on it. What should happen now is that somebody should mount a new production of the play in America and cast me. That would be great!
しばらく話に上がっていたものの、ベネディクト・カンバーバッチが行かないと決断したので、『After the Dance』のブロードウェイ公演の話はもうなくなってしまったようです。
うーん。残念！ブロードウェイ公演があれば観に行ったのに～。でも、『After the Dance』はロンドンのNT ArchiveでDVDで観ることができるので、観たい方はロンドンに行かれた時にNT Archiveへ。『Frankenstein』も鑑賞できます。
8月頭にロンドンに行った時、私もNT Archiveで『After the Dance』を観てきました。感想はまた今度時間のある時にゆっくり書こうと思います。次に行く時は『Frankenstein』と、マーク・ゲイティス氏が今年の3月に出ていた『Seasons of Greeting』を観ようと思っています。本当は生で観たかったのですが『Frankenstein』のチケットを滞在中フルで取っていたので、『Seasons of Greeting』はどうしても観られず。8月頭に観る予定でしたが、『SHERLOCK/シャーロック』シリーズ2の撮影がロンドンであったのでそちらを優先してしまい…(^_^;
次回こそは。リベンジしたいと思います。
