ベネディクト・カンバーバッチ、次の出演作品は来年放送のTVドラマ『Parade's End』？
Daily Mailがドラマ『Parade's End』主役のChristopher Tietjensをベネディクト・カンバーバッチが、妻のSylviaをレベッカ・ホールが演じるとの記事を出しました。ただし、60分×5本のこのドラマを作成するBBC Twoからの正式なキャスティング発表はまだです。

Benedict Cumberbatch will exude perfect English gentlemanliness － his watchword is honour!－when he leads a major television drama set against the backdrop of World War I.
The five-part series, Parade’s End, will also star Rebecca Hall (who will come to the show direct from shooting Stephen Frears’ latest film in Los Angeles) as Benedict’s wife.
Cumberbatch will play Christopher Tietjens, a top civil servant from a background of wealth and privilege, whose marriage founders almost as soon as it begins.
His wife Sylvia (Rebecca) has affairs, while he falls in love with another woman, but he remains honourable for some considerable time to Sylvia.
The war scenes in the novel are brutal. Tietjens is left shell-shocked and for a while loses his memory.
The five-hour series, to be directed by Susanna White, is based on Ford Madox Ford’s novel, which has been adapted by Tom Stoppard.
原作はFord Madox Ford'。脚本はSir Tom Stoppard、監督は2005年のTVドラマシリーズ『Bleak House』でBAFTAのドラマ賞を受賞したSusanna White。
BBC Two：Parade's End
BBC Two is bringing Ford Madox Ford's masterpiece, Parade's End, to the screen next year. It will be adapted by the highly acclaimed British playwright Sir Tom Stoppard and directed by Bafta-winning Susanna White.
Set between the twilight of the Edwardian era and the end of the First World War, Parade's End's biggest pre-occupation is a love triangle between English aristocrat Christopher Tietjens, his beautiful but cruel wife Sylvia and Valentine Wannop, a young suffragette who he falls madly in love with.
Sir Tom Stoppard says: "The BBC came to me with the idea of adapting Ford's novel for TV two years ago. I had never read it and I fell in love with it. Parade's End has been my main pre-occupation since then. The title covers a quartet of books set among the upper class in Edwardian England, mostly from 1911 to the end of the Great War. I spent about 18 months on the dramatisation of the novel into five 60-minute episodes, working with the BBC producer Piers Wenger and with Damien Timmer of Mammoth, the independent production company. I confess I feel a bit proud of it, and now that Susanna White has come on board to direct Parade's End I'm thoroughly excited about it."
舞台はエドワード7世の時代末から第一次世界大戦の終わり。英国貴族Christopher Tietjens(ベネディクト・カンバーバッチ)とその美しく非常な妻Sylvia(レベッカ・ホール)、そしてChristopherが狂ったように恋に落ちる婦人参政権論者Valentine Wannopの三角関係の物語。

Daily Mailのすっぱ抜き(?)が本当ならば、madlyな恋をする英国貴族をBennyが演じるわけですね。英国貴族…恋に落ちても無我夢中でそれに突っ走るなんて無理な人種(笑) Bennyならものすごくリアリティがありそうｗｗ

原作小説の中では戦地の描写がかなりエグいようで、Christopherは後遺症から記憶を喪失するとか。
ソースがDaily Mailなのでどこまで真実かは疑ってかかる方がbetterですが、記事によるとベネディクトは友人に「この役はとても大きな挑戦だから、断るなんてできなかった」と話したそうで(でもDaily Mailだからなぁ…笑)
Bennyはジェイムズ・マカヴォイが主演を打診され、ジュード・ロウも出演する予定のJoe Wright監督の『アンナ・カレーニナ』への出演が確定と当初言われていましたが、後に監督が「スケジュールの都合でベネディクト・カンバーバッチの出演はなくなった」と話していました。どうやらこの『Parade's End』とバッティングしたようです。
撮影はUK、フランス、ベルギーで行われる予定。米国の大手ケーブル局HBOとパートナーシップを結び、米国でも大々的に放送されるようなことが書いてあります。米国ではまだそれほど名の知られていないベネディクトも、これがHBOで放送されれば一躍知名度が浸透するだろうとのこと。
Bennyが『Parade's End』に出演？Daily Mailの勘違いだったねー。と、数日～数か月後にガックリこないで済むことを祈ります！BBC Two、早く正式発表してくれ！
