2011.05.23のBAFTA2010。惜しくも主演男優賞を逃したベネディクト・カンバーバッチは、『SHERLOCK』がドラマシリーズ賞を受賞したことは素晴らしく、実は驚いたと述べました。

"It's lovely to be nominated," he said. "I know that's the patter that everyone trots out on these occasions, but it's truly the case. When you see the clips come up, you realise you are in very, very, very good company. I'm a big Misfits fan so I thought they might have [won it], but it's just terrific - it's validation for what we've been doing. To come out with an award is wonderful."
地方出張にぶっ飛ばされていたおかげで、BAFTAをまだまともに見られてないのですが、ノミネート作品の映像が流れるんですよね、たしか？『SHERLOCK』のクリップが流れて、自分の作品がノミネートされてるんだ！と実感したんでしょうか、ベネディクトw 彼自身は『Misfits』が好きだからそっちが取ると思ったのに～、とリップサービスか本音か照れ隠しか分からないことを並べてますが。
Meanwhile, Cumberbatch revealed that it's a "joy" to be back filming the new series and his co-star Martin Freeman said that they are "having a real ball".
ベネディクトもマーティンも、『SHERLOCK』シリーズ2に戻れることはとっても楽しいことだと口を揃えて。“have a ball”、一瞬ナニのボールを2人で持ってるのかと意識が飛んだのは、きっとベネディクトがマーティンをガッシリ抱え込んで○○宣言してたせいです。れっきとした「楽しむ」という表現です、ええ。
Cumberbatch added: "The whole point of the second season is to challenge expectations. We're taking on three fantastic big stories in the Sherlock canon, so it feels comfortable but at the same time, nothing is going to be old hat. It's all going to be very big and new."
シリーズ1があの大反響、あの面白さ、斬新さでしたので、続編はそれを上回らねばならないのがシリーズものの宿命。二番煎じは使えないし、ありふれたものにも出来ない。でも、ベネディクトにすべてはとても大掛かりで新しいものになっていると言わしめるくらいなら、S2もかなり期待できそうです。
