ベネディクト・カンバーバッチがホストを務める『After The Dance』原作テレンス・ラティガンのBBC4ドキュメンタリー、6月に放映
今か今かと待っていた、ベネディクト・カンバーバッチが案内する、テレンス・ラティガン(Terence Rattigan)のドキュメンタリー(BBC4）放送予定が、2011年6月になりました！
The British Library：British Library's Rattigan archive features in BBC 4 documentary presented by actor Benedict Cumberbatch
Actor Benedict Cumberbatch will present a BBC4 documentary, due to be broadcast in June, on the life of playwright Terence Rattigan, whose centenary is celebrated this year. Cumberbatch - famous for roles including Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective in the BBC’s recent series, Sherlock - starred in the production of Rattigan’s early play, After the Dance, at the National Theatre last year.
Part of the filming for the documentary took place at the British Library. Cumberbatch and Rattigan’s biographer, Michael Darlow, were filmed talking about the playwright, while perusing some items from the Rattigan archive.
The items shown were mainly photographs of Rattigan, family as well as professional prints, from an early age to his last months, next to personal family letters, notebooks, autographed manuscripts and programmes, all representative of the diversity and richness of the Rattigan papers.
今年はラティガンの生誕100周年だそうで。テレンス・ラティガンは英国の有名な劇作家。ベネディクトが通ったプライベートスクール、ハーロウ(Harrow)の先輩であり、ベネディクトが2010年7月にNational Theatreで上演した『After The Dance』も彼の作品です。BennyはHarrowにいた頃、本人いわく学校を抜け出す口実としてラティガン・サークルに入っていたとか。
ドキュメンタリーの一部はは大英図書館で撮影されたとのこと。The British Libraryと言えば、2011.04.29の『Cabin Pressure』公開録音劇場のすぐ隣にありました。整理券待ちをしながら撮った写真があったので、横側からのものですがご紹介。
